Who is UGO?
Our name comes from the iconic fictional character, that appears in Italian literature and film: Ugo Fantozzi.
UGO is the depiction of the average Italian, strong honest loyal and ruthless at times, this reflects the offerings at UGO.
At UGO, you can expect nothing less than simple Italian food done well.
ABOUT US:
When Cannoleria moved out of That’s Amore Cheese’s Thomastown headquarters into its own independent factory in July 2020, co-owner Dario Di Clerico saw an opportunity to open a takeaway cafe on the new premises.
The result is UGO Cucina|Popolare. A tiny, panini-focused cafe that's little more than a display cabinet and coffee machine, but if you’re keen to linger there are picnic tables outside. In September 2023 UGO Fitzroy opens 369 Gore St.
UGO is now also a catering/events department and a private chef service.
